The first seven months were marked by 1.343 achieved net profit and investments into production modernisation

The investments were urgent and will allow Steklarna Hrastnik to grow further and preserve its competitive position on a highly demanding market. Due to a 2-month production downtime during overhaul, the set-up of a new furnace and machine refurbishment, the volume of sales fell by 4% compared to the same period last year, which reflected in a poorer profit or loss from ordinary activities; however, the results of the first 7 months of 2013 nevertheless show a stable operating trend. In this period, Steklarna Hrastnik achieved a net profit of €1.343 million, which is 22% more than planned.

In the first 7 months of 2013, Steklarna Hrastnik achieved €29 million in revenues, while EBITDA amounted to €4.5 million and consolidated EBIT to €1.9 million.

“The results for this year’s first 7 months have revealed that Steklarna Hrastnik holds a great potential that is yet to improve with our focus on more demanding clients and more expensive products” explained Andrej Božič, the General Manager of Steklarna Hrastnik. “We have managed to raise the selling price per kilogram of glass by 3%, decrease our stocks by €1.3 million and optimise unprofitable programmes.”

By investing into the training and growth of its human resources and by technically modernising the production, Steklarna Hrastnik improved the manufacturing processes of glass products and raised the level of their quality to the point of becoming the leading global manufacturer of boutique bottles for luxury beverages. Furthermore, this has been confirmed by the international SIB AWARD, which was presented this July in Las Vegas to three technically very demanding luxury beverage bottles that are produced by Steklarna Hrastnik, i.e. the D’usse Cognac bottle for the Bacardi beverage producer, the Slovenia vodka bottle for the Good Voda company and the U’lovka Vodka bottle. “We are particularly proud of the recognition given to us by the Intertek international agency” adds Božič. “Namely, the Sainsbury's retail chain commissioned the Intertek international company to perform an overall review of Steklarna Hrastnik as a new supplier according to SQP standards and we excelled in every assessment category.”

In human resources, Steklarna Hrastnik presented nine practical projects for the youth. These aim to provide the youth with practical experience in these times of crisis.

In environmental impact reduction, Steklarna Hrastnik will focus on reducing and recycling glass waste as well on searching for possibilities to use the waste powder formed during the production process as a construction material.
